2015 Spring Gorge Trip: Another Wild One

June 11, 2015 - Wind at the Hatchery.

Today started out VERY WINDY - AGAIN! Mike arrived and joined us at Ross's Condo. After talking about where we would sail, we got a text from the Sailworks Shop that Dale Cook would be at the Hatchery around 10!

Ross and Andreas decided to go Kiting at the bridge again. Ross was on his five five, and Andreas took out Ross's seven. Ross said he kept it fully de-powered the whole time.

I arrived at the Hatchery at around 10:30, and joined Mike on the rocks to watch the Dale.
Dale put on quite a performance. He is at least twice as fast across the water - and no one on the water even comes close to the height he gets on his jumps. He is fun to watch.

Harold and Gerry arrived around noon, The wind was still strong. I was on my 4.2 and absolutely fully powered, although the wind was a lot more stable than yesterday, so my sailing was a lot better and more relaxed. Maybe I can still do this sport. Mike went out on his 3.8, Gerry was on his 3.7 and Harold was on his 3.2.

Al arrived and started to rig, but unfortunately so did Blaine and Brad. As soon as Blaine and Brad pulled into the parking lot, the wind started to drop. When they started rigging, the wind really dropped. They all rigged, but only Blaine went out. I think he DID get planing for a few seconds. I guess that is a win.

We are heading to the pFreim Family Brewers for supper.

Kent, Rene, Big Air Jim and Cam arrived late in the day. Jim says that apparently they arrived at about 10:00pm. The condo's were dark and locked up. They went in and upstairs and found Blaine and Brad watching women's golf....... When confronted with this, Brads response was that Jim then sat down and watched it with them.....
